I have recently been involved in doing research and testing into upgradeable contracts with Indorse and after this I wonder why you use both the upgradeable-proxy and the ethernal storage patter in conjunction. My testing indicated that the upgradeable-proxy pattern can handle new storage just fine without any other mechanisms.
